My last three birthdays have all been spent living in a different state. Maybe this is why I feel that my life is flashing before my eyes! 32? Really? I feel like it was yesterday that I was sharing a bedroom with my sister dreaming and wondering about what would become of our lives. I am blessed beyond belief. Cheers to 32 years!
My sweet (and funny) hubby sent this email to me this morning that I wanted to share. It had me laughing out loud. Trying to see the humor in living in a hotel in the month of December…
“Well, I don’t know a woman in the world that wouldn’t enjoy a month long, all expense paid stay in a two bedroom suite for her birthday, but I guess I out did myself again! Go ahead and run the tab up this morning at the breakfast buffet, and eat as many imitation eggs as your heart desires. Happy birthday to the love of my life, and I look forward to many more to come!”
I decided I wanted to do a little something to give back on my birthday, so the kids and I shopped for items to donate to the local Harvest Food Bank. I am not sure what it is like in your house, but ages 3 and 4 is bringing up a lot of this during the holiday season:
“I want this.”
“Can Santa bring me this?”
“Can I put this on my Christmas list?”
“Why do I have to wait until Christmas to get something?”
And on and on. We had ANOTHER long discussion today about the true meaning of Christmas and about how fortunate they are to have so many things in life. I think if I keep repeating myself, and teaching, and doing things for others (with them), they will eventually “get it”!
A simple and worthwhile hour spent with these two rascals…love it.
