Framed Map

My soon-to-be 4 year old son loves to learn.  He loves numbers, letters, globes, clocks, books and he asks lots of questions.  I knew it was the right time to hang a map in his room.  We have a child's atlas in the car that he likes to look through and he is always asking us to show him where his grandparents and cousins live and where he was born.

I already had a rolled up, laminated, and colorful US map collecting dust in a closet.  I didn't throw it out years ago because I knew I would use it as a teaching tool when I had my own kids.  Forward several years, and this map is going in Drew's room, behind his door, at eye level so he can look and learn and touch.

I measured the map and went on a hunt for a large, inexpensive frame.  I found one at Goodwill for $3.  Isn't she just the ugliest??!!!

Of course, I removed the lovely underwater sea poster and spray painted the frame in a peacock blue that I already had in my stash.

Because I actually wanted this to be functional and accessible to my son, I hung it low and behind his door since it takes up a lot of space.

He has TX, IL, and SC down!  Only 47 more to go!
